Bill (a.k.a. unfurl) is a figment of your imagination. Your dreams tell you that he loves being outdoors, drumming, and petting his cats. In the middle of the night you are haunted by visions of body modification and african rituals. Spirits emerge and speak to you about the merits of biodiesel, vegetarian eating, bicycles as transportation and living in the now. The sounds of Miles Davis, The Meters and Slayer tease and confuse your ears. The apparitions tell you stories of being a unix sysadmin at CL, The Anguish(tm), Rigshock and servers that seem to multiply on their own. Images of hiking by moonlight and sleeping on the beach guide you back to the world of sleep. When you wake in the morning you remember nothing but wonder where all your CD's went and why you smell like patchouli.

Caleb (a.k.a. chaley) is a bay area transplant who's passionate about community, sustainable living, public transportation, and generally making the world a more urbane place.
At craigslist he tames perl code with a bullwhip and a chair and has the proud honor of greeting the walk-ins at the front door.
When not travelling the world in his spare time he likes to sample bits of the Bay Area's cultural stew-pot or just zone out and crank the Pink Floyd.

dallas reigns from "The West". Despite stints in other locales, he has wandered back to SF where life is good. He also loves chaos. That's why he wrangles systems at work and twins at home. His sanity is kept by his loving wife and the fact that he can walk to work and bike his kids to school.
-
Eric is completely out of sync with modern culture; doesn't own a TV; reads P. G. Wodehouse, murder mysteries and Neal Stephenson novels; rides his bicycle everywhere; volunteers at his kids' school; loves his wife; plays saxophone and guitar and doesn't sleep much.
Eric remains shocked to discover that his title is chief technology officer.

Everything is different, but the same... things are more moderner than before... bigger, and yet smaller... it's computers... San Dimas High School football rules!
Be excellent to each other.

jim buckmaster - perhaps the only CEO ever to be accused of being anti-establishment, a communist, and a socialistic anarchist; in his free time jim enjoys hiking in marin, browsing space-time, and reading chomsky. craigslist got you down? bone up on traffic calming, contemplate the singularity, see what's cookin' at RMI, take a seinfeld trivia quiz, gaze upon the messier catalog, or downshift into another multiverse altogether.
a more traditional bio for jim can be found here

i drink coffee and complain about perl. i like big systems, bikes, and cats. and coffee. and python. and clean code. i don't like it when things don't work. i'd like to spend the summer in bolinas.

joshwitz (a.k.a. "the Other Josh") -- frequently mistaken for a Klezmer musician or a cult movie reviewer, this Joshwitz can't play the tsimbl nor does he particularly like Big Trouble in Little China. He does, however, have a black belt in Kung-Fu (walk-ins take note). The Locnar is currently in his possession.

Josh ("Josh3") is an East Bay native who came to work here upon deciding that helping build community (or at least a good place to find a job, sell a sofa, or find love) seemed like a rewarding thing to do. He also claims to enjoy the daily train ride / peoplewatching. When he is not wearing his sysadmin hat helping to keep our servers from blowing up, or barbequeing on the craigslist front porch, he enjoys spending time with his family, Giants baseball, travel, boating, trivia, and music. He is even happier when he can combine all of the above...

Kat previously commuted to San Francisco for 2 hours each way before she finally came to her senses and moved. She doesn't like radio commercials but she is addicted to chapstick. She frequently impresses street gangs with her mad breakdancing skills. As an ops kid she derives great joy from bringing the banhammer down on spam. Haha there's a kitty outside my window right now.

Lucas loves dogs and house music.

Mabel is our controller and accounting manager. She also serves as our office manager, which is good because the CL crew can be a bit *ahem* disorganized at times. In her spare time (not much these days!) she enjoys listening to Chinese music and shopping. Little known fact about Mabel - she is a world class badminton player!

Pablo is a transplant from somewhere in Southern Spain into the Bay Area (go Cadiz!). After five years working in evil clutches, he was rescued by the good guys. He speaks many languages including Cat, and, according to his girlfriend, the language of Love. He cannot function without 8 cups of coffee a day and weekly viewings of tons of crap downloaded from bittorrent. You must divide everything he says by three to come close to the truth. He just got his driving permit for the first time in his life. He likes juggling and playing go, and he can get very violent when someone around him is using Windows or idolizing Google.

Craig is a hardcore Java and Web programmer who grew up wearing a plastic pocket protector (?) and thick black glasses, taped together, the full nerd cliche.
He started craigslist in early '95 as a means of better connecting to people by letting them know about cool or useful events happening around San Francisco. It rapidly grew and built a large community of people who wonder if there really is someone named Craig involved with this.
He ain't no big deal. Craig is somewhat embarassed that this is called "craigslist". For more check out Craig's blog.
Our thanks goes out to folks who contributed to the cause in the early years of craigslist:
-
Paul Risenhoover set up majordomo for Craig in 1996, lent a hand with systems administration, and hosted one of the earliest versions of craigslist on his linux server.
-
Christina Murphy was a member of the first craigslist board of directors. She helped shape the direction of craigslist and put a face to the community. Christina planned the parties. She is a Recruiter/Consultant for a boutique SF placement firm. (Christina shown with John Musgrove at the first craigslist party.)
-
Weezy Muth was a member of the first craigslist board of directors. She wrote code to streamline processing on the site and managed the posting process. 3 teenagers and a full time job finally took its toll: she has scaled back to just family and her job at APL, doing Java programming and web development.
